Lawsuit Against Apple Over High App Store Commission Dismissed in Chinese Court

The Shanghai Intellectual Property Court dismissed a lawsuit brought by a person named Jin Xin against Apple in 2021. He claimed that the company abused its market position and imposed a high commission of 30% on iOS app developers, which ultimately led to increased expenses for users.

The court compared commissions in the App Store and several Android app stores and found no significant difference. Additionally, it did not find evidence in the lawsuit that the commission size in the App Store directly led to inflated prices.

Jin has already stated that he intends to appeal the verdict by filing an appeal with the Supreme People's Court of China.
