Niantic has announced the takeover of SpotX Games, a startup specializing in AR games with NFT

According to Niantic, the startup joined it back in February, but until that moment the deal was not officially announced. However, the terms and the amount for which SpotX Games was purchased are still not disclosed.

Separately, Niantic has introduced two new platforms:

The Campfire geolocation social network, which shows the location of the user’s friends on the map, as well as the nearest events in the company’s games;

▪️Lightship Visual Positioning System (VPS) is a tool with which developers can “link” AR content to specific places in the real world, for example, to a monument or a building. Currently, over 30,000 locations are available on the platform in six cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, London and Tokyo.
