John Carmack is working on a mobile SDK for Oculus Rift
The founder of id Software will allow you to play mobile games using virtual reality glasses.
At the beginning of August, it became known: the leading programmer of id Software nominally leaves the company, which he himself helped to found almost 23 years ago. His new place of work is the startup Oculus Rift, which develops virtual reality glasses of the same name.
As the new technical director, Carmack does not waste time. At the moment he is writing SDK software for Oculus Rift. And, according to Nate Michell, the startup’s vice president, Carmack pays special attention to the mobile “part”.
First of all, Android will receive Oculus Rift support. And it will happen this year. As for iOS, the situation here is not yet completely clear. As Mitchell says, Apple is not as open a platform as Android.
