VR game Beat Saber has sold 1 million copies

Beat Saber sold 1 million copies on all platforms in less than a year. This game is the first project for VR that has managed to achieve this.

Beat Saber didn’t even need PR. As the co-founder of the Beat Games developer studio told Variety, the game was advertised to each other by the players themselves. According to him, the popularity of the game was affected by its intuitive gameplay, which does not require special skills from the gamer. This made it possible to attract a very wide audience.

We had no PR at all. We didn't expect the game to cause such a crazy hype.

According to Variety, Beat Saber may become the first game to break the mark of 1 million copies sold. However, there is still Skyrim VR, whose sales could theoretically be at the same level. According to representatives of Bethesda, the game is selling “very well”. But they did not provide accurate data on the sold circulation, UploadVR writes.

Beat Saber is a rhythm game where the player cuts colorful cubes with lightsabers to the music. Beat Games describes it as a kind of “mashup of Guitar Hero and Fruit Ninja in virtual reality.” In May last year, the game was released in early access on Steam and Oculus Store and sold 50 thousand copies in just a week. In November, Beat Saber appeared on PS4.
