Sony surprised by the success of Resident Evil 7 VR
Sony admitted that they did not expect the popularity of virtual reality mode among Capcom horror Resident Evil 7 players.
“We had no idea that VR would play such a significant role in the success of Resident Evil VII. The percentage of gamers who have played this game on PS4, and then in VR, is calculated in double digits. It was a surprise,” said Jim Ryan, Sony’s general manager of international sales and Marketing.
He added that the company does not yet know exactly how VR gaming will develop – towards full—fledged versions or individual game episodes.
According to Ryan, this branch of the industry is still at an early stage, so time will tell where it will grow.
But the introduction of virtual reality in large-scale projects like Doom, Elder Scrolls or Gran Turismo can speed up the formation of a request for this platform.
