VR market revenues reached $1.8 billion in 2016

According to SuperData, the global virtual reality market totaled $1.8 billion last year.

Most of the revenue ($1.5 billion) came from sales of VR equipment.

Sales of VR software brought in $314 million. Games accounted for 44% of the total number of applications sold, 35% were stationary VR attractions and the remaining 22% were distributed among various media programs: interactive, entertainment and others.

According to analysts, in 2017 alone, the profit from VR will grow by 168% to $4.9 billion compared to 2016. And by 2020, the global turnover of the virtual reality market will reach $37.7 billion, with $20 billion provided by software sales.
