Samsung unveils controller for Gear VR
Samsung has introduced a controller for the Gear VR virtual reality system. The helmet and controller kit will go on sale on April 21 and will cost $129.
The new Gear VR helmet has not undergone any changes, except for the release in a new color “gray orchid”. The smartphone remains the main element of its system.
The controller is powered by batteries and allows VR headset users to manage a virtual library of games, use a web browser and play first-person shooters. Verge noted the light weight of the device. The controller separately from the headset will cost $39.
The controller is compatible with the old version of Gear VR and currently supports about 20 games, but Samsung and Oculus have promised to increase this list to 70 titles in the coming months.
