App Store: the number of "zombie apps" is growing

The App Store will soon be overflowing with “zombie apps” that don’t have a chance to reach the consumer – that’s what a new study from the Adjust mobile analytics agency predicts.

The visibility of applications in stores in general and in “apple” in particular is steadily falling. The study claims that 82.8% of apps in the App Store are so-called “zombies”. They do not get into the top and actually remain invisible to users. For comparison, at the beginning of 2014, there were only 74% of such applications.

Adjust reports that in 2014 their number increased by 26.3% – from 899,231 in January to 1,136,501 in December.

What forecasts does the company give?

If the current state of affairs persists – and there is no reason to think that it will change – then the market will very quickly be filled with only those applications that can break through to the top thanks to a large budget. Thus, developers will have to look for alternative sources of implementation of their projects.

“The App Store as an organic source is finite. As soon as the limit is reached, the store will die,” Christian Henschel, CEO of Adjust, is sure.”
