Oceanhorn for the sake of a feature in the App Store “went under the scalpel"?

One of the most striking projects of last year is the adventure Oceanhorn from the Finnish Cornfox & Bros. – wants to regain a permanent feature on the App Store pages.

Oceanhorn is one of those games that Apple’s attitude towards can cause at least envy. It was released almost exactly a year ago – on November 13, 2013 – and the very next day received the “main banner” in the iTunes Home Page in 105 countries.

But this is hard to surprise. Another interesting thing is that throughout November-December, the game was featured by Apple on the main page of the App Store (iTunes Home Page) in 200-300 countries (the figure changed within this framework), jumping from selection to selection, receiving small banners and so on. In March, after localization of the game into several new languages (including Russian), the game was re-received in the respective regions by the “main banner”.

For the first time, the game was left without a feature on the iTunes Home Page (already within the framework of all sorts of collections / former collections, and so on) only in July (!). However, not for long. Already on August 7, when the game received a big update “with fishing”, it got into the feature again – in 111 regions.

But after the release of the new version of iOS and the release of new gadgets, all promotion stopped. Most likely, this turned out to be due to the fact that the game was not specifically optimized for Metal and the new smartphones of the “apple” company.

Apparently, wanting to return the love of Apple, the Finns announced the graphic update Oceanhorn, which is released on December 11. As reported by our colleagues with http://toucharcade.com , happy owners of iPhone 6, iPhone 6S and iPad Air 2 will be able to enjoy a new picture of the game on the “ultra-settings”. Here you have a fourfold increase in the number of polygons, and normal maps, and new lighting.

We, however, do not see a dramatic difference in screenshots between what is and what will be (not counting the more prominent bump), but we are sure Apple will notice. And the game, which costs not the most modest $ 8.99, will again receive promotion.
