Clickky: to get into the top 10 of the Russian App Store, you need 8 thousand downloads
We continue a series of interviews with companies selling traffic. This time we talked to the guys from the Ukrainian Clinic.
The questions were answered by Galina Divakova, Clickky Product Manager.
Galina DivakovaHi!
As far as we know, you recently turned three years old. It’s a long time for the mobile industry. Tell me how it all started. Why did you start monetization?Hi!
It all started with games on social networks “Vkontakte” and “My World”. Then this market was growing at a gigantic pace. Around the same time, they became interested in advertising on social networks, and then came to mobile advertising.
When we first started working here, the services were quite simple, and advertisers were only interested in traffic. Now they are concerned about the transparency of statistics and all data on application installations. Have to match.
Yes, this year alone we have grown by 500% and we have our first employees in New York.
What does the Cliskky represent now? In which case should mobile game developers contact you?Clickky is a mobile advertising platform for developers of iOS and Android applications, where they can apply both for user acquisition with payment for installations and for monetization of their traffic.
And more recently – and for the purpose of PR and application marketing, since we have earned our own service for the comprehensive promotion of MadApp applications.
For example, we recently created a promo video for a bowling app. We are working on publishing reviews for several new games. We make ASO for other developers.
What else does the company offer to game developers today?Well, a lot of things: unmotivated and motivated installations of applications (not only games), we conduct campaigns to bring them to the top, and also cooperate with those developers and sites that are ready to act as publishers – that is, to sell their traffic.
Services are provided both through Clickky’s own resources and through cooperation with advertising networks.
We have our own offerwall, appwall, banner scroller, we are starting to work with interstitial ads and video advertising, which are now the fastest growing mobile advertising formats. We offer assistance with PR on relevant media resources and blogs, mailing of press releases, App Store optimization, localization, social media marketing. We are also the official provider of advertising on Facebook.
The site mentions Applinks as one of the solutions. Tell us what kind of solution is this, how is it used and how relevant is it at all today?Applinks is our unique solution for acquiring loyal users for developers.
Any site can take our code and put it to itself. This code will automatically replace direct links to the App Store or Google Play with our partner links, and at the same time users will switch to the same applications. Applinks works on both web and mobile versions of websites. For each installation of the application, site owners receive an average of $1.5. We work with foreign resources like Apppicker and with domestic ones – for example, Planet iPhone.
Listen, there are a lot of tools, they are different. In which cases, what is better to use when it comes to games? In other words, can we say, for example, that offers work better with N games than RTB?In our experience, we need to test all the main tools, watch the conversion to installations, conversion to paying users, ARPU, CLTV, and only then draw conclusions about which tool works best. Because each game can have its own special set of the most winning tools that give it the highest quality and paying audience.
For hardcore and niche products, Facebook often works better in terms of eCPI and CLTV, while casual games for a mass audience are perfectly promoted through banner ads in applications and on mobile sites.
Now they often talk about Value Exchange. Do you have similar solutions?Yes, of course!
Recently, we launched a cross-promo for mobile app developers together with AppsFlyer, a service that allows you to analyze conversions from external sources and user behavior inside the application.
Thus, we offer a comprehensive solution: from Clickky – a number of tools for monetization of mobile applications, motivated and unmotivated traffic, from AppsFlyer – analytics.
For developers using this system, we offer an exclusive bonus of $100. You can register in the Clickky system and get a bonus here.
We have already written more than once that traffic is a sore point. Some often do not have money for it, and others often do not have the opportunity to offer the number of users necessary to achieve top positions. Accordingly, the question is an edge: can you bring it to the top in Russia or to the top in the USA?Yes, we can and are engaged in withdrawal both in the first and in the second country (in any top).
Closely related to this question is another: how many downloads do you estimate it takes to get into the free/paid top 10 on the App Store/Google Play?If we are talking about the App Store, the volumes for the top 10 on some days can be up to 80 thousand app installations in the USA and about 8 thousand in Russia.
But here it is necessary to take into account the daily number of developers buying traffic, the competition for places in the top is great. Sometimes it is easier to get into the top category than into the general top, and this is often used by many customers. We are still carefully trying to work with paid applications, we need much less traffic for the paid top, but the whole snag is in the non-payment of the application itself.
As for Google Play, developers are more likely to order a specific amount of traffic for a specific time, a smaller number are asked to bring it to the top. But, of course, unlike the App Store, there are completely different nuances.
How much time does it take you to prepare an advertising campaign? The most important thing is to test the tracking link that the advertiser gives us as soon as possible.
It is important that he has some kind of tracking system built into his application – Flurry, HasOffers or similar. If he doesn’t have anything like that yet, we have our own tracking system, which is very simple and convenient to use. Next, we create a client’s advertising cabinet with all the campaigns in the system, give him access there, and we can start.
If there is a third-party tracking system, then you can start on the same day.
And the last question, already personally to you: what are you playing? Airplane simulator Airplane!, Electrotrains, and if with someone in a big company, it’s always King of Opera.
