Distimo: Google Play revenue grew by 67%, App Store - by 15%
The analytical company Distimo has published a fresh review of the mobile app market: over the past six months, Google Play revenue has increased by 67%, and the App Store has shown only 15% growth.
The positive dynamics of the Android market is confirmed by other data. According to a recent report by Kantar Worldpanel, sales of Android devices for March-May 2013 provided 52% of all smartphone sales in the world. But even with a significant increase in Android store revenue, Google Play is still inferior to Apple.
Distimo experts report that the United States continues to lead in terms of the amount of money that users have spent on iOS and Android platforms. Basically, Google Play’s revenue increased due to the markets of Japan and South Korea. It is in these two countries that there is a clear preponderance towards Android applications.
By the end of July, Candy Crush Saga from the top five most profitable Android store applications is still in the first place King.com . But the following positions indicate the approval of new strong players in the Android application market. So, the second place is taken by the Japanese game Puzzles & Dragons, two applications from the South Korean Kakao in third and fifth place, and again the Japanese LINE – in fourth position.
The rating of the most profitable apps on the App Store is as follows: Candy Crush, Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Puzzles & Dragons; closes the chart of The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth. Candy Crush Saga also led the way on both platforms last month.
