Amazon Appstore launched in Europe

Amazon’s Android app store has become available for mobile users in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

Some analysts look at this expansion as a response to the emergence of Barnes & Noble’s own retailer in the UK. However, we think this is a stretch, since B&N is not going to sell its tablets in good old England at the moment, only readers.

For Amazon, expansion into European markets is a logical step after the success that its app store has acquired in the states. Recall that the Amazon Appstore is considered one of the most profitable Android stores. By some indicators, it surpasses even the official Google Play, despite a more modest application base and the number of users.

Amazon Appstore is localized for each new market, and on each of them, as well as on the original American, there are so-called special offers, like “Free App of the Day”. Yes, the application or game purchased in this store can be run on any other Android mobile device belonging to you.

Many analysts believe that such a move indicates Amazon’s plans to release the Kindle Fire 2 in Europe.
