Google Play earns more outside the US

Speaking at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco, Google Play Technical Director Chris Yerga reported that 67% of all Google Play revenue is generated outside the United States.

Yerga emphasized that over the past year, the largest increase in Google Play earnings (14 times) was observed in Japan and Korea. This is largely due to the popularity in these countries of direct payments through the billing systems of mobile operators. 73% of Japanese and Korean users pay for apps this way. By the way, it was announced that there were 12 more such operators there.

It is also worth adding that during his presentation, Yerga demonstrated a slide with data from TinyCo (which we talked about a few days ago), proving that ARPU in Google Play is greater than in any other mobile app store.
