The RTS game about surviving in a zombie world, Ebbtide, gathered 100,000 wishlists in just three days

It was developed by just one person using AI.

The accomplishment was announced by the developer, known as ProjectAlive.

The Ebbtide page appeared on Steam on October 20th. The very next day, the developer reported the first 15,000 wishlists, and by October 22nd, announced that the milestone of 100,000 had been reached.

“I absolutely didn’t expect such interest in such a short time. I still struggle to believe it. It’s incredible to see that a game I’m creating on my own has attracted so much interest,” the author wrote in the game’s profile on Steam.

Ebbtide is a strategy game about humanity's survival in a world overrun by zombies. Players must organize the defense of Los Angeles, managing ground troops and aviation.

The creation of Ebbtide uses generative AI. The developer used neural networks to create part of the music, voice overs, sounds, illustrations, and 3D models, as well as to translate the game text. According to him, without these tools, it would have been difficult to bring the project to its current state by himself.

Ebbtide is being developed on Unity 6 for PC. The release date is currently unknown. The author first intends to conduct a playtest and then release a public demo version. While the game is currently focused on single-player gameplay, the developer considers adding co-op in the future.
