Media: Asha Sharma believes that XBOX "won't survive" without new franchises

The head of XBOX made this statement at an employee meeting earlier this month, according to Windows Central.

Clockwork Revolution

According to the publication, in her conversation with employees, Asha Sharma emphasized the importance of developing existing game franchises. At the same time, she noted that the division cannot afford to rely solely on these. In Sharma's opinion, for XBOX to continue succeeding, it's vital to seek ideas for new IPs that can attract additional audiences.

During the meeting, Sharma also hinted that XBOX might undergo another simplification of its organizational structure in the future, though she did not specify what that would involve.

Recall that in September, Microsoft announced the consolidation of several game teams. Among the changes, Obsidian moved under Bethesda, while Rare and World’s Edge came under Activision. Additionally, the studios Compulsion Games, Double Fine Productions, and Undead Labs have previously departed from XBOX, with the fate of Ninja Theory and Arkane Lyon still uncertain.
