XBOX has created a new division for game adaptations and other partnerships

Microsoft has announced the establishment of another division within XBOX, named XP.

According to the corporation, this division will focus on expanding XBOX franchises beyond video games. Previously, these tasks were handled by various teams, but now they are unified under one leadership.

XP's work will focus on four areas:

  • XBOX PICTURES will handle video game adaptations;
  • XBOX PRODUCTS will be responsible for merchandising;
  • XBOX PARTNERSHIPS will manage partnerships with content creators, brands, and communities;
  • XBOX PLACES will oversee event organization as well as the operation of attractions and other themed venues.

The position of XP president will be held by Kayleen Walters, who previously led Mojang Studios. In her place, Maria Angelidou-Smith, the product director at Reddit, will take over the Minecraft developers.

In the past, Microsoft attempted a similar division: in 2012, the corporation launched Xbox Entertainment Studios to produce films and series, but it was closed after two years.
