"Yandex Games" now has a negative commission when topping up Steam

The "Yandex Games" platform is trying to strengthen its position in the service market for replenishing Steam accounts. To achieve this, it has temporarily introduced a negative commission when transferring money through the platform to the gaming store.

As part of the promotion, the commission is -1% of the amount deposited. For example, if a user deposits 99 rubles, 100 rubles appear in the account; if 1000 rubles are deposited, the Steam account owner receives 1010 rubles, and so on.

For context: in the Russian market, the average commission is typically between 5-8% depending on the platform. Through banks, it is usually more expensive—working with them, the commission can reach the range of 10-12%.

Aside from "Yandex Games," Yandex has several solutions for transferring money to Steam. For example, the "Igromir" service charges 6%, Team Yandex Store — 4.2%, and "Yandex Pay" — 14%.

In this context, the negative commission may turn out to be a successful marketing move. However, everything will depend on what the commission turns out to be after the end of the promotion, which will last until October 22.
