Aggro Crab, the developer behind games like Peak and Another Crab's Treasure, has unveiled a new publishing label aimed at supporting dynamic, stylish games that exude a strong personality.
This initiative will be managed by the Aggro Crab team and is designed to assist emerging teams that require up to $500,000 for projects that can be developed within a two-year timeframe.
The publishing label by Aggro Crab offers adaptive contracts with stable core terms, adjustable project milestones, and does not require retaining final payments for the launch of a game.
Additionally, the label will assist in marketing activities, including creating trailers, designing key art, providing brand strategy, and enhancing visibility through its social media platforms.
Aggro Crab aims to onboard one or two projects each year, while simultaneously continuing its in-house productions.
At present, Aggro Crab has already partnered with two projects: ThirtyThree's precision platformer Rebounder and Bubby Darkstar's psychedelic horror experience Subway Midnight.
"Our reputation and reach have expanded over the years, and we aim to open doors that aren't always available to indie developers," shared the developer team.
"Our goal isn't to control creative processes but to support visionaries who impress us. We believe in trusting creative talents to fully realize their ideas."
The team further explained, "Having experienced working with a variety of publishers, we now understand what good publishing should be and aim to exemplify that."
Corey Warning, the head of publishing, mentioned to Game Developer that Peak's triumph has placed the studio in a distinctive position.
"Our interest wasn't in expanding our team size significantly; rather, we wanted to broaden our library of games," Warning stated.
"We prefer to actively participate in the projects we engage with, offering insights from our experience as indie developers and self-publishers. Additionally, we have cultivated a sizable community that respects our game creation and promotion strategies."
