For the first time, more than 700 games were released on Steam in a single week, yet 74% of these titles received fewer than 10 reviews

Recently, the Steam platform witnessed an unprecedented surge, exceeding 700 game releases within one week. Despite this, 74% of these games garnered fewer than 10 reviews.

Statistics provided by Thomas Bidaux, CEO of ICO Partners, reveal that 720 games were launched on Steam the previous week—a development that came "ahead of schedule by about a month."

Among these releases, 530 games registered between zero to nine reviews, and 190 games achieved ten or more reviews. Further inspection highlights that 95 games received over 50 reviews, 62 surpassed 100 reviews, and 10 games achieved more than 1,000 reviews. It is important to note that games with over 1,000 reviews are also part of the lower review categories.

Amir Satvat, during Gamescom Dev's recent opening keynote, discussed how Steam released approximately 12,000 games in the first half of 2026, marking a 19% increase compared to the previous year.

Additionally, Alinea Analytics reports that revenues reached $11.1 billion during this period, marking a record high for any half-year.

In 2025, Steam saw 20,000 game releases. Satvat commented that merely "3% of those games, around 600, witnessed a peak concurrent user count of 100 or more."

Last year, Rokky, a PC distribution platform, published a whitepaper indicating that more than half of developers felt overly dependent on Steam, with 72% opining that the platform monopolizes the PC gaming market.
