Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick stated in an interview with CNBC that the $100 version of GTA VI is selling better than the $80 version. During the conversation, he did not delve into specifics but shared some thoughts on the situation.
Zelnick speculated that the difference might be due to the nature of the pre-order audience. According to the top manager, GTA VI is currently being purchased primarily by hardcore fans of the series who are willing to pay more for additional content — the ultimate edition of the game will offer them extra vehicles, weapons, shops, and much more.
During the interview, Zelnick also hinted that discounts on GTA VI are unlikely shortly after its release. He noted that the fifth installment was sold at its regular price for an unusually long time. However, the head of Take-Two did not rule out that some retailers might independently choose to reduce the price, but by doing so, they would sacrifice part of their profits.
Previously, Zelnick reported that pre-orders for GTA VI are "unprecedentedly" good. According to him, no previous Take-Two game has shown such high pre-release sales.
GTA VI will be released on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
