Nexon is set to assume the role of publisher for Overwatch on PC in South Korea, with the transition occurring next month.

The process of moving players will begin on August 12, aligning with the commencement of the game's fourth season, with registration and account linking having started on July 7.

This move comes after Blizzard and Nexon established a partnership to create a highly localized Overwatch service specifically for Korean users earlier this year.

Under this arrangement, Blizzard remains responsible for game development and providing the Overwatch intellectual property. Nexon will oversee live service operations and business management.

To support these efforts, additional local professionals will be recruited by both companies.

Junghun Lee, Nexon's president and CEO, stated, "Nexon has been collaborating closely with Blizzard to deliver a service that enriches the Overwatch experience through our live operations and localization strategies."

Walter Kong, Blizzard's SVP of live games, mentioned: "Together with Nexon, we take pride in crafting a high-quality, tailored experience for Korean players as we embark on this new phase for the Overwatch community in Korea."

The details of the publishing collaboration were shared following Nexon's first-quarter financial results, which reported a substantial 118% increase in net income year-over-year, reaching ¥57.2 billion ($360.7 million).

This increase was bolstered by the ongoing success of Arc Raiders from Embark Studios, with an additional 4.6 million units sold during the quarter.
