RuStore allowed developers to choose in which countries their games would be available
VK announced the expansion of the functionality of the Russian mobile app store RuStore.
As explained by Product Director Oleg Afanasyev, developers can now decide for themselves whether to release a game in a specific country or not. The choice of geography will depend on the target audience, product development plans, or other reasons.
VK emphasized that RuStore operates not only in Russia and CIS countries. Applications can also be released in countries in Africa, Oceania, Asia, Europe, and North and South America, but how large RuStore's audience is in those regions remains an open question.
In its latest financial report, VK reported that at the beginning of 2026, the number of monthly active users of RuStore in Russia reached 65.8 million — a 23% increase compared to a year ago. It did not disclose MAU in foreign markets but boasted that foreign developers increased their advertising budgets on the platform fivefold over the year.
