Valve has increased the prices of the Steam Deck OLED by more than 40%
Valve has raised the prices of its Steam Deck OLED models significantly, with increases exceeding 40%.
The cost of the 512GB version has surged from $549 to $789, while the 1TB version now costs $949, up from $649. According to Valve, the hike is due to rising component costs across the industry and logistical difficulties. Here are the new prices:
- Steam Deck OLED 512GB: Priced at $789; CAD $1,129; €779; £649; AUD $1,199; PLN 3,279
- Steam Deck OLED 1TB: Now $949 USD; CAD $1,349; €919; £779; AUD $1,429; PLN 3,879
Earlier in the year, Valve noted that availability of the OLED model might be sporadic in some areas due to a RAM shortage. Additionally, the company postponed the release of new hardware because of supply constraints. The Steam Controller was introduced on May 4, following its announcement alongside the Steam Machine and Frame previously.
Other gaming hardware manufacturers are also feeling the effects of persistent component shortages. Last month, Nintendo revealed price hikes for the Switch 2, which debuted last June. Adjustments to console prices were made in regions such as Japan, the US, Canada, and Europe. In Japan, these changes also affected the original Switch lineup and the Nintendo Switch Online service.
Sony has announced that it will increase PlayStation Plus prices, attributing this to current market challenges. In April 2026, PlayStation 5 prices will see an increase in the US, UK, Japan, and Europe, with additional hikes in South Korea and Southeast Asia starting May 1, 2026.
In the US, Xbox raised console prices for the second time last September. In April, the company lowered Game Pass prices following Asha Sharma's appointment as CEO. However, this adjustment didn't fully counterbalance the 50% price rise from last October, which set the service's cost at $19.99 for consoles and $11.99 for PCs.
