Valve has implemented significant price hikes, exceeding 40%, on its Steam Deck OLED models.
The price for the 512GB version has gone up from $549 to $789, and the 1TB version now costs $949, up from $649. These adjustments are attributed to increased component costs and logistical issues affecting the industry. The revised pricing structure is as follows:
- Steam Deck OLED 512GB: Priced at $789 in the US; CAD $1,129; €779; £649; AUD $1,199; PLN 3,279
- Steam Deck OLED 1TB: Priced at $949 in the US; CAD $1,349; €919; £779; AUD $1,429; PLN 3,879
Earlier in the year, Valve mentioned that the OLED model might face "intermittent" availability in certain areas due to RAM shortages. They also postponed the launch of new hardware because of supply constraints. The Steam Controller was released on May 4, following an announcement made last year along with the Steam Machine and Frame.
The ongoing component shortages continue to affect various tech companies, with Valve being the latest to announce impacts. Last month, Nintendo revised the prices of its Switch 2, originally launched in June last year, affecting markets in Japan, the US, Canada, and Europe. Sony also revealed increases in PlayStation Plus pricing due to market conditions, with PlayStation 5 prices set to rise in the US, UK, Japan, and Europe starting April 2026, and additional increases in South Korea and Southeast Asia from May 2026.
Xbox has also adjusted its pricing strategy recently. The company raised console prices in the US for a second time last September, although it later lowered Game Pass prices. However, this price cut did not completely counterbalance the 50% increase instituted last October, when the service price was set at $19.99 for consoles and $11.99 for PCs.
