According to the head of PlayStation Studios, Sony has decided not to release additional single-player games on PC

The Last of Us Part 1 (2022)

Earlier this year, speculation suggested that Sony might be reducing the availability of its PlayStation 5 exclusive games on the PC platform. Now, according to reports by Bloomberg and PlayStation Studios chief Hermen Hulst, it seems certain that PlayStation's narrative single-player titles will be kept exclusive to Sony's consoles.

Sources had previously informed Bloomberg in March that the performance of PS5 games on PC had been lackluster. They indicated that releasing these titles on PC could potentially harm the brand and affect future PlayStation console sales.

Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has reported that during a staff meeting, Hulst reaffirmed the decision to maintain exclusivity for their narrative single-player games on PlayStation. This confirms earlier reporting from the year.

Sony started the transition of its major titles to PC with releases on Steam in 2020, notable entries including God of War and The Last of Us. Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut was showcased on PC in 2024, marking the first to integrate PlayStation Network features such as trophies and friend lists with a special overlay.

Nevertheless, there was controversy around the need for PSN connectivity for the Helldivers 2 PC version in 2024, leading to Sony reversing its decision on that requirement after receiving criticism.

Additionally, Sony has outlined its strategy to expand the use of artificial intelligence within its operations, a move that also extends to the realm of game development.
