Asha Sharma, the leader of the Xbox division, has noted that the current memory supply challenge is likely to influence the upcoming console's pricing.

The first insights into Xbox's forthcoming gaming system, known as Project Helix for now, were shared last month. Jason Ronald, who handles Next Generation projects as a Vice President, mentioned that Helix is set to offer top-tier performance and prioritize player experience, with a collaboration with AMD to establish cutting-edge rendering and simulation capabilities.

In a conversation with Game File, Sharma highlighted that the escalation in memory expenses could affect both the cost and availability of the console.

"Pricing and availability are intertwined with memory expenses," Sharma explained. "In our effort to be at the forefront of gaming, these factors will shape our decisions."

Sharma also stated, "Currently, we don't have a launch schedule to disclose. The current global environment is volatile. However, our main goal is to develop an outstanding console capable of delivering great games, even those played on PCs."

The comments come as tech companies compete for memory due to high demand from AI data centers like those of Alphabet and OpenAI, impacting supplies for consumer products such as consoles and PCs. The situation has been termed "RAMmageddon," with reports suggesting that Sony might postpone the launch of its next-gen console amid this crisis.

Sharma also spoke about Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella's strategic outlook for Xbox over the next decade, with a focus on boosting Game Pass revenue and advancing the features of their next system, Project Helix.
