The Australian authorities have demanded that Valve explain how it combats extremism on Steam

The authorities have made the same demand to the owners of Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox. They appealed to them directly.

The case was initiated by the eSafety Commissioner, an Australian government organization responsible for regulating internet safety in the country. It sent letters to gaming platforms, reminding them that at various times, the media reported the presence of extremist and terrorist content on all of them.

Now, the eSafety Commissioner wants to know how Steam, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox "detect, prevent, and respond" to such violations. Additionally, it asks for explanations on how platforms combat cyberbullying and the grooming of minors.

The organization emphasized that the platforms are obligated to report back to them. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to 825,000 Australian dollars or 590,000 US dollars per day.
