In 2025, nearly 6,000 games earned over $100,000 on Steam—a record

Valve presented at the GDC 2026 conference with a talk where they shared some fresh figures regarding the Steam store. The full presentation is not yet publicly available, but some slides were published on social media by Game Developer journalist Chris Kerr.

  • Valve revealed that last year, 5,863 games managed to earn more than $100,000 on Steam, marking the best result in the store’s history. For comparison, in 2024, there were around 5,000 games with such revenue, about 4,000 in 2022, and around 3,000 in 2020.

  • In 2025, the “Deal of the Day” feature on Steam was awarded to 1,500 games, 69% of which had never previously had this feature. Throughout the year, 8.2 million people purchased games from this promotion—125% more than in 2024.
  • More than half of the active Steam audience played on at least two devices in 2025.
  • For 66% of Steam users, English is not the primary language. As a reminder, in 2024, the most popular language on the platform was Simplified Chinese with a share of 33.7%.
