In 2025, nearly 6,000 games earned over $100,000 on Steam — a record

At the GDC 2026 conference, Valve presented a report sharing some fresh figures about the Steam store. While the full presentation is not yet publicly available, some slides were published on social media by Game Developer journalist Chris Kerr.

  • Valve reported that last year, 5,863 games managed to earn over $100,000 on Steam, marking the best result in the store's history. For comparison, in 2024, around 5,000 games achieved such revenue, in 2022, about 4,000 games, and in 2020, around 3,000 games.

  • In 2025, 1,500 games were featured in Steam's "Deal of the Day." Notably, 69% of these games had never been featured before. Throughout the year, 8.2 million people purchased games through this promotion, which is a 125% increase compared to 2024.
  • More than half of the active Steam audience played on at least two devices in 2025.
  • For 66% of Steam users, English is not their primary language. It's worth noting that in 2024, the most popular language on the platform was Simplified Chinese, with a share of 33.7%.
