The CEO of Xbox, Asha Sharma, has announced that its next-generation console, known as Project Helix, will support both Xbox and PC games.

In a statement shared on social media, Sharma discussed Xbox's dedication to reinvigorating the brand with this upcoming console, which aims to be a leader in performance and provide compatibility for both Xbox and PC titles.

Following her recent appointment, Sharma highlighted her focus on console and hardware development. She stated, "Our goal is to meet players at their level," emphasizing the need to deliver high-quality games even to those not currently using Xbox consoles or hardware.

Sharma also conveyed that creating exclusive games for Xbox might still be an option. She expressed a commitment to learning about the underlying reasons guiding Xbox's current strategic decisions and understanding consumer data.

This week, reports emerged indicating that Sony is reconsidering its approach to multi-platform releases by reducing the number of PlayStation exclusives available on PC.

Last October, former Xbox president Sarah Bond revealed that the next-gen hardware was in the development stages, with prototyping and design efforts underway. Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, also suggested that PC games would soon be accessible on the console.

Nadella remarked, "We set out to create a console that could essentially be a superior PC for gaming, challenging conventional notions even though the console experience is unparalleled."

In June, Xbox signed a multi-year pact with AMD to provide the technological foundation for its upcoming console. Bond noted, "Our partnership with AMD is pushing forward gaming silicon to introduce the next level of graphics innovation."

Bond resigned from her position as Xbox president last month, coinciding with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer's retirement. Industry leaders have shared their experiences and reflections on Spencer's impactful service to Xbox in a recent exchange of memories and insights.
