"Marathon" and a co-op game about gnome robbers became the most popular at the Steam demo festival

In the evening of March 2nd, the "Games to Be" demo festival in Steam concluded. The store's team summarized the event and named the projects that attracted the most unique players.

Burglin’ Gnomes

Here's how the top five demos look:

1. Marathon — an extraction shooter by Bungie, which held an open test during the festival;

2. Burglin’ Gnomes — a cooperative game by the studio Fobri about gnomes breaking into homes and stealing everything that's not nailed down;

3. Windrose — a pirate PvE adventure with crafting and survival elements by Windrose Crew;

4. Vampire Crawlers — a turn-based dungeon crawler with card game elements set in the Vampire Survivors world by poncle;

5. Far Far West — a cooperative shooter about cowboy robots in the Wild West by Evil Raptor.

The top 50 also included Outbound, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, REPLACED, Darkhaven, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, PRAGMATA, ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies, among others. The full list can be viewed here.

Steam did not specify how many players tried each specific demo. The store also didn't share any additional statistics. Earlier, analyst Simon Carless from GameDiscoverCo calculated that around 3,900 demos participated at the festival's start.
