Asha Sharma, assuming the role of CEO and EVP of Microsoft Gaming, has stated her commitment to maintaining high standards in AI quality. Underlining her intentions as a "platform builder," she emphasized the necessity of establishing trust with both gamers and game creators.
Sharma, who became part of Microsoft in 2024 as the head of CoreAI, has prior leadership experience from Instacart and Meta. Addressing concerns about her AI expertise, she asserted her zero-tolerance policy for subpar AI at Xbox.
In her discussions with Variety, Sharma stated that AI has always played a role in gaming and will persist in doing so, while affirming the pivotal role of human creativity in storytelling.
In an internal communication following her recent promotion, Sharma assured that Xbox will avoid pursuing short-term efficiencies or inundating their systems with low-quality AI content.
She remarked, "Games embody art, created by people using the most advanced technology we supply."
