The peak online user count on Steam has surpassed 42 million.

The year 2026 has already marked a new online record for Steam. According to the SteamDB service, on the evening of January 11, there were 42,042,778 people on the platform simultaneously.

Out of all the 42 million, 13.1 million people were actively playing games at that moment — a new record was not set here. A higher figure was recorded a few days earlier, on January 4, when there were 13.39 million Steam users in games.

Steam consistently increased its peak online presence throughout last year. At the beginning of 2025, the maximum number of simultaneous visitors on the platform was 39.34 million people, but since then the record has been broken five times — not counting the current achievement. It is possible that in the coming months, Steam will reach a new historical maximum.

Below is the top 5 projects with the highest online presence on Steam in the past 24 hours:

1. Counter-Strike 2 — 1.6 million people;
2. Dota 2 — 843.5 thousand people;
3. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS — 728.8 thousand people;
4. ARC Raiders — 432.3 thousand people;
5. Apex Legends — 206.4 thousand people.
