1047 Games, the studio behind Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, has issued a statement addressing reports about the game's Steam performance metrics.

The company's statement on social media suggests that current statistics don't provide a complete picture. Within five days post-launch, 1047 Games reported acquiring 150,000 players and noted a record high in player retention.

Splitgate: Arena Reloaded essentially relaunches Splitgate 2, after the developer decided to revert the game to beta status due to initial underperformance.

The shooter, free-to-play, became available on December 17. SteamDB data shows it reached a peak of 2,293 players shortly after release, but numbers have since declined.

Currently, the game has 556 active players on Steam, with a recent 24-hour peak of 1,070 users. The original Splitgate 2 launch in June 2025 saw a much higher peak of 25,785 simultaneous players.

"Steam Charts don't measure fun," 1047 Games stated, emphasizing that such data reflects only one aspect of the experience.

"These figures reflect one moment on one platform and don't convey the broader experience of playing the game. They also overlook the community’s contributions to shaping Arena Reloaded and future updates like Arena Royale.

"Our team rebuilt Splitgate over the past six months, driven by confidence in the game and our community. We remain dedicated to providing the best version possible.

"We owe thanks to our passionate community, whose feedback improves Arena Reloaded daily.

"For those yet to try it: Arena Reloaded is free, features the best gameplay we’ve ever delivered, and we invite you to experience it firsthand. Our team has dedicated significant effort to its success."

On consoles, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded had a "brief" spike to 50,000 daily active users on Xbox and PlayStation post-launch, according to Alinea Analytics in a statement to GamesIndustry.biz. Retention was "decent" during its first week, though daily users fell below 15,000 by January 5.

Alinea noted that most players were returning from Splitgate 2, highlighting a challenge in attracting new users.

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted 1047 Games for more insights into console performance.

The first Splitgate appeared on Steam in May 2019 as Early Access and was officially released in September 2022. Its sequel arrived in June 2025. Following the sequel's launch, 1047 Games announced layoffs to "reallocate resources to enhance the player experience".

A month later, a second wave of staff reductions was announced as the game returned to beta.
