Microsoft has opened access to the guidelines for releasing games in the Xbox ecosystem to all developers
Previously, the instructions were only accessible to corporate-approved teams—and only after signing a non-disclosure agreement.
As Microsoft shared on its blog, it has decided to open up the guidelines to enhance transparency within the Xbox ecosystem. Now, developers will know in advance how to prepare games for release on its services, making their lives easier.
Specifically, the guidelines detail concrete steps for publishing games, tips for setting up game pages to collect wishlists and pre-orders, project certification requirements, and much more.
Microsoft has promised to periodically expand the documentation, adding additional instructions. It plans to update the guidelines as new features are introduced and as developer requirements evolve.
