On October 30, Embark Studios released its second game — ARC Raiders. The new release showed a good number of players online on Steam, but it has yet to become the most popular extraction shooter on the platform.
ARC Raiders
According to SteamDB, the peak concurrent Steam players for ARC Raiders on its release day reached 264,673 people. This is the second-highest figure in the genre's history. The top spot for concurrent players is held by the parody game Escape from Duckov featuring armed ducks, which had a peak of 301,322 players on Steam. However, this situation might change over the weekend.
Meanwhile, ARC Raiders surpassed Embark Studios' previous game, the cooperative shooter THE FINALS, in terms of concurrent players on Steam, with 242,619 users. This is despite ARC Raiders being priced at $40, while THE FINALS is a free-to-play game.
How ARC Raiders' online presence changed on Steam
At the time of writing, ARC Raiders has 89% positive reviews on Steam. The shooter is mainly praised for its atmospheric setting and enjoyable gameplay, with many also highlighting its excellent optimization. However, not everyone favored the third-person view, and the developers' decision to include microtransactions faced some criticism.
ARC Raiders is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
