A recent report suggests that Xbox has raised the price of its development kits to $2,000, marking a 33% increase

Microsoft has reportedly elevated the price of its Xbox Series X/S development kits (XDK) from $1,500 to $2,000.

According to information provided to The Verge, the company attributes this 33% increase to "macroeconomic developments" and notes that it will impact developers worldwide, not solely those based in the United States.

Xbox has purportedly communicated to developers that they are "committed to providing high-quality tools and support for your development efforts."

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Xbox for a statement regarding this change.

This report follows two recent price hikes in the U.S., and the news that Microsoft has raised the price of its Xbox Game Pass subscription, with the top-tier Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now costing $29.99/£22.99 monthly, up from $19.99/£14.99.

The company explained that the price increase is linked to its expanding offerings, which now include Fortnite Crew (valued at $11.99/month) and Ubisoft+ Classics (valued at $7.99/month) added to its Ultimate library. There are also improvements in Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming quality and access to over 75 day one releases per year, featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
