Microsoft suspends Xbox Game Pass price increases in certain markets

Microsoft has decided to hold off on raising prices for its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions in certain nations. Reports from The Verge indicate that current users received a notification, clarifying that those opting for auto-renewal will not see their rates change.
Countries such as Germany, Ireland, South Korea, Poland, and India will not see an increase at this time. However, this policy shift will impact new sign-ups in these regions. Those who cancel and reinitiate a subscription will incur the updated fee.
Microsoft has assured that any modifications to existing accounts will be communicated "at least 60 days in advance," allowing users "the opportunity to cancel or alter" their plans.
Kari Perez, Xbox Communications Head, explained that updates to Game Pass will not change outside the specified nations. "Subscribers in select markets will maintain their current pricing, respecting local conditions," Perez stated, while ensuring that any price changes will be notified ahead of time.
Earlier in the month, Microsoft revealed a price increase for some Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate elevating from $19.99/£14.99 to $29.99/£22.99 monthly.
The company acknowledged that "price increases are never welcomed" but is striving to "enhance the value" of its plans alongside the changes. In a separate announcement in September, Microsoft revealed a second price rise for its Xbox Series X|S consoles in the US this year.
