Microsoft states that it is "working to reinforce" the price hikes for Xbox Game Pass by "adding more value" to the service
Microsoft acknowledges that price increases are not ideal, as it responds to the newly elevated fees for its Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
In a statement to The Verge, Dustin Blackwell, who manages Microsoft's gaming and platform communications, mentioned that the company aims to enhance the service by integrating additional benefits with these new prices.
"It's a decision we consider carefully. We're attentive to users' input to deliver more of what they seek," he explained.
Recently, Microsoft disclosed an adjustment in the cost of its highest Game Pass level, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, hiking it from $19.99/£14.99 to $29.99/£22.99 monthly.
Changes also affect Xbox Game Pass Standard, rebranded as Xbox Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass.
Blackwell highlighted that these updates mirror the additional offerings now available, particularly for the Ultimate tier.
With over 400 games available globally, the Ultimate package will include most partners continuing to launch their upcoming games within Xbox Game Pass.
This year, there will be access to more than 75 first-day releases, marking a 50% boost over last year's figures.
Furthermore, Microsoft revealed an increase in pricing for its Xbox Series X|S consoles in the U.S., marking a second price rise, with equipment costs escalating by $20 to $70.
