PlayStation 5 is the most financially successful console in Sony's history
This information was reported by Hideaki Nishino, Head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, at the Tokyo Game Show 2025.

Nishino reported that the total revenue from PlayStation 5 sales has reached $136 billion. This is significantly higher than the company's previous consoles.
For comparison, the original PlayStation earned Sony $24 billion, PlayStation 2 brought in $44 billion, PlayStation 3 generated $71 billion, and PlayStation 4 achieved $107 billion.
Recall that in the spring of 2024, Sony had already boasted that the PlayStation 5 had surpassed all its predecessors in terms of operational profit, which at that time was $10 billion. However, in terms of sales revenue, it was still trailing behind the PlayStation 4 then.
