On average, users engage with a greater number of titles on Xbox each month compared to other gaming platforms

Recent analysis shows that Xbox users engage with more games monthly than their counterparts on PlayStation or Steam.

Ampere Games Analytics reports that in August 2025, the average Xbox player engaged with 5.7 different games.

Comparatively, Steam users participated in 4.5 games on average, while PlayStation users averaged 3.7 games, representing a 38% decrease from Xbox figures.

The analysis by Ampere suggests that Xbox's Game Pass significantly boosts game usage, despite offering a smaller game library than PlayStation Plus Premium.

By August 2025, Game Pass had over 500 games, whereas PS Plus offered nearly double, with under 1,000 available titles.

The firm noted that subscribers to Game Pass were more engaged with various games compared to PS Plus members, with PlayStation users playing two fewer games monthly on average than Xbox users.

On Steam, it was observed that users typically play one less game than their Xbox counterparts each month.

This disparity, according to Ampere, underscores the financial barriers to gaming, with Game Pass prompting users to explore more titles without purchasing single games.

However, it was noted that Xbox players typically spend less time playing games than users on other platforms.

In August, which highlighted significant disparities, Xbox players logged 7.7 hours, compared to 12.7 and 11.9 hours on PlayStation and Steam, respectively.

The study concluded that although Xbox players spend less time per game, they have the opportunity to try a wider array of games, something they might not ordinarily experience.

Recently, Chris Charla, the head of ID@Xbox, announced that Xbox had made its biggest investment in Game Pass to date and is committed to offering an exciting and varied game catalog.
