Revenue and Profit Growth: How the First Half of 2025 Went for Publisher Balatro

The British holding company TruFin released its financial report for the first six months of 2025. Among other details, it discussed the performance of its subsidiary PlayStack, best known for publishing the card game hit Balatro.

  • PlayStack’s net revenue continued to rise. From January to June 2025, the publisher earned £10.8 million ($14.5 million), which is 38.4% more than in the first half of 2024 and an impressive 697.1% increase compared to the first half of 2023.
  • PlayStack's profit also increased by 42.4% compared to 2024, totaling £6.4 million ($8.7 million).
  • By the end of the half-year, the average return on investment of development capital (ROIDC) associated with console game development at PlayStack "significantly" exceeded 500%. Excluding Balatro, the figure stands at 300%.
  • Total sales of Balatro and Abiotic Factor from January to June 2025 exceeded 3 million copies. The total number of purchases to date has not been disclosed.
  • Announced in June, Mortal Shell 2 set a record among PlayStack's games for the fastest wishlist growth on Steam. It is currently ranked 208th among the most wished-for upcoming games on the platform.
  • After the reporting period ended, PlayStack released Abiotic Factor for full release and launched Void/Breaker in early access. Both games have performed well, so much so that PlayStack has already recouped its investments in them.
  • By the end of the year, PlayStack plans to publish three more games.
