Welsh company Curveball Leisure has introduced a new division, Curveball Games, focused on publishing innovative digital and physical games from independent to medium-sized studios worldwide.

The establishment of this new publishing unit was revealed on September 1, with leadership under Ed Gregory, a seasoned professional who previously worked with PlayStation and PQube.

Joining the team are James Megretton as product marketing manager, who has experience from Sumo Digital, and Richard Flint as community manager, who also has a background with PQube. The company plans to expand further leading up to 2026.

Ed Gregory remarked on the industry's challenges over the past couple of years, noting signs of gradual recovery. He emphasized the need for new strategies, highlighting the role of Curveball Games in supporting developers beyond their passion.

Gregory stated, "Our aim as a publisher is to advocate for developers, foster creativity, and offer the vital support they need. With our team's expertise and the support from the wider Curveball group, we believe we're well-positioned to introduce the next wave of exceptional talent."

Though Curveball Leisure and its retail segment, The Game Collection, are based in Swansea, the new publishing division will operate from Cardiff.

Curveball Games has already secured collaborations with companies such as Wales Interactive, Top Hat Studios, Duality Games, Reignite Group, British designer Kevin Toms, and Riddlebit Software for upcoming releases in various formats.

Andrew Naunton, CCO of Curveball, stated, "Curveball has evolved significantly over 20 years, starting from modest roots to become an important player in Wales, particularly in the physical media market where we have established a strong international footprint."

He added, "The creation of Curveball Games signifies a new milestone for us, expanding our influence and invigorating our brand.

"By merging our solid infrastructure with industry insights and our passion for outstanding games, we're enabling developers to succeed with the resources and collaboration they require."

Naunton expressed commitment to growth, stating, "We're taking a bold leap, fully committed to forming long-term partnerships that promote creativity and ensure success for our titles and Curveball Games as a whole."
