Curveball Leisure has introduced a comprehensive publishing division.
Welsh company Curveball Leisure has unveiled Curveball Games, a publishing unit that aims to promote "unique" digital and physical games created by indie and AA studios worldwide.
The new publisher, announced on September 1, is led by Ed Gregory, a seasoned publishing manager with experience at PlayStation and PQube. Joining Gregory are James Megretton, previously of Sumo Digital, as product marketing manager, and Richard Flint from PQube as community manager. The publisher anticipates expanding its team through 2026.
Gregory remarked on the industry's recent challenges, acknowledging signs of recovery despite remaining obstacles. "This is the moment for a new approach, and that's the vision behind Curveball Games," he stated. While passion is vital, Gregory insists on the importance of supporting studios beyond enthusiasm alone.
He emphasized their commitment to championing developers, fostering creativity, and offering genuine support, bolstered by the broader Curveball group's resources.
Curveball Leisure, headquartered in Swansea, Wales, operates its publishing activities from Cardiff. They have already allied with Wales Interactive, Top Hat Studios, Duality Games, Reignite Group, game designer Kevin Toms, and Riddlebit Software for upcoming projects.
Andrew Naunton, Curveball's CCO, reflected on Curveball’s growth over two decades, expanding from modest roots into a major player within the physical media realm. The debut of Curveball Games signifies an expansion to extend their influence and invigorate their brand.
Naunton expressed dedication to blending existing infrastructure and expertise with a passion for outstanding games, aiming to offer developers the necessary resources, clarity, and cooperation to succeed. He noted their commitment is bold and visionary, with a focus on strong partnerships that uplift creativity and ensure mutual success for their titles and the new venture.
