The independent film company Lyrical Media has launched indie publishing with a former top executive from Private Division at the helm

The publisher is called Lyrical Games.

It is reported that:

  • it has significant private funding;
  • the publisher will focus on games that don't fit into the category of small indie or large AAA projects, specializing in projects outside these extremes;
  • the publisher has already signed three projects, including a new project from Blackbird Interactive, the developer of Homeworld 3.

Lyrical Games is headed by Blake Rochkind, who previously managed business development for the now-defunct Private Division, known for publishing blockbusters like Kerbal Space Program, The Outer Worlds, Hades, and No Rest for the Wicked.

Joining him as head of production is Roger Kurtz, who also managed production at Private Division, and worked for over 10 years in various roles at Microsoft, mainly involved with Xbox services.
