GOG has seen over a million users take advantage of their free game offer, part of the FreedomToBuy.Games campaign. This effort provides 13 adult-themed games at no cost, opposing new rules by platforms such as Steam and itch.io, which came in response to regulations pressured by payment processors.

In a release dated August 1, GOG stated: "We support players' right to access games that are legally and responsibly developed, now and in the future. Our standpoint is clear: today's delisting based on discomfort makes future revival increasingly difficult."

With the backing of developers and publishers, GOG initiated FreedomToBuy.games to highlight censorship issues in gaming. This initiative allows users to freely acquire titles such as Postal 2, Agony, and House Party.

The company announced, "In support of creative freedom and the preservation of works, 13 games have been made available at no charge for a 48-hour period."

GOG also mentioned in a recent announcement that, "The overwhelming response has exceeded our predictions, requiring our team to tirelessly ensure the platform remains stable."

The company stressed the importance of continued access, noting, "Once a game is removed today, restoring it in the future becomes significantly more challenging."
