Lyrical Media, an independent production company, has introduced Lyrical Games, a new indie games publisher backed by private investments. Former Private Division executive Blake Rochkind leads this venture.

With an emphasis on the triple-i segment, the publisher intends to support innovative and high-quality games that fall between small indie titles and large-scale AAA games. The company promises "significant private funding" to achieve this goal.

Joining Rochkind are industry experts such as Roger Kurtz, ex-head of production at Private Division, along with team members who have worked at Devolver Digital, Humble Games, and Microsoft.

"We at Lyrical Games are convinced that developers often are the best curators for their own creations," stated Rochkind in the launch announcement. "In a noisy market, not every developer needs a publisher. Our mission is to be the kind of supportive partner developers seek."

He emphasized the importance of a mutual understanding between developers and their publishing partners to align on both the game and its audience from the start.

Lyrical Games has already signed contracts for three titles, including a project from Blackbird Interactive, creators of Homeworld 3. Announcements and updates regarding these titles are expected soon.

Rochkind expressed confidence that in the premium indie or ‘triple-i’ market, Lyrical Games can offer exceptionally competitive terms. "Our focus is not just on recruiting developers, but on forming partnerships that allow them significant influence over how their games reach audiences," he added.

"Our collaborations will always ensure that developers retain ownership of their intellectual property, with an emphasis on cooperation and transparency."
