New age ratings have appeared in the App Store

Apple has updated the age rating system in the App Store. The corporation announced the addition of three new levels: "13+", "16+", and "18+".

Apple noted that previously, in most cases, developers could assign their products only the "4+" and "9+" ratings. But now it believes that App Store users need a more accurate assessment of content.

According to the corporation, the age rating of all games and apps in the App Store has already been automatically updated—the tags were assigned based on the answers developers provided in the questionnaire when uploading the project to the store. If a rating was set incorrectly, developers can manually change it through App Store Connect.

The new age ratings are displayed on devices running beta versions of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, and other recent Apple operating systems.

Apple reminded that different age rating systems apply to some countries. More details can be read in the App Store guidelines.
