A study reveals that 7% of the entire game catalog on Steam now indicates the use of generative AI

A recent analysis reveals that 7% of games on the Steam platform now acknowledge the incorporation of generative AI technologies.
The research, conducted by Totally Human Media and reported by VGC, states that as of July 13, 2025, 7,818 out of approximately 114,126 games on Steam have such disclosures. Steam's API served as the basis for this data.
Compared to the 1.1% reported in their previous study from April 2024, this represents a significant rise, with over 20,000 additional games being released on Steam since that time.
The report highlights that in 2025, one out of every five new game releases mentions the use of generative AI. Over half of these instances, about 60%, involve the generation of visual elements.
Generative AI is also employed in producing audio, creating text and narrative content, marketing efforts, and developing code and game logic.
Notable titles on Steam with AI-related disclosures include inZOI, which uses AI for texture generation and character AI; Liar's Bar, known for character voice synthesis; and Comedy Night, which implements AI in content moderation.
Meanwhile, 11-Bit Studios faced backlash for not initially disclosing the use of AI-generated text in "The Alters." The studio has committed to revamping the artistic elements to address this issue.
