Playdead will remove Limbo and Inside from GOG. It might be due to a conflict between the studio's founders

The GOG team announced that on July 17, the games Limbo and Inside will disappear from its store. The official reason has not been disclosed, but there are speculations online that this could be due to legal disputes between Playdead's founders Dino Patti and Arnt Jensen, which have recently escalated to the courts.

It is worth recalling that disagreements among the developers arose over ten years ago. Rumor has it they centered around who owns the rights to the games created in the studio. The conflict led to Patti's departure from Playdead in the summer of 2016, but the story didn't end there.

Four months ago, Patti claimed that Jensen periodically threatens him with lawsuits. Specifically, in March 2025, Playdead's lawyers accused him of copyright infringement and harming the studio's reputation after the developer posted on LinkedIn about the history of Limbo's creation and included art from the game. The allegation is currently being reviewed in court.

However, Patti himself doubts that Playdead decided to pull the games from sale on GOG directly due to the lawsuit. In a comment to the portal 80 Level, he said that most likely, the titles' credits are being revised to remove his name. The studio has previously taken similar action with the Limbo and Inside versions on Steam and other platforms. It is quite possible that after such modifications, the games will return to GOG.

Playdead has not commented on the upcoming removal of Limbo and Inside from GOG.
