A total of 1,604 Russians aged 18 and older participated in the survey.
Main findings from the study:
- Only 27% of those surveyed were aware that Russia decided to create a domestic console. The rest learned about the project from the survey;
- 57% of Russians stated they approve of this idea. However, only 8% believe that the domestic console will significantly surpass Sony and Microsoft consoles in terms of features. Another 3% believe it will be slightly better than PlayStation and Xbox, while 14% think it will be roughly the same;
- 26% of respondents are confident that the domestic console will fall far behind PlayStation and Xbox. The most skeptical are those Russians who play games themselves;
- 68% of respondents who already own a console are willing to consider purchasing a domestic device if it has a large catalog of supported games. Other important factors include having specs that are not inferior to PlayStation and Xbox (66%), compatibility with popular gaming services like Steam (59%), and a lower price than foreign consoles (53%);
- In general, among the respondents surveyed by VTsIOM, only 44% play games. Another 33% used to play but have stopped, mainly due to losing interest and lack of time;
- 27% of VTsIOM respondents who are gamers play on consoles, most commonly on PlayStation (24% of gamers);
- The most popular platforms in Russia remain PCs (82%) and smartphones (63%).
